THE Sticky Bun

Image
I was watching the Food Network this evening when the sticky bun recipe came up. It made me salivate, like seriously! She even beat Bobby Flay on the Food Network's Throwdown with this sticky bun. I found the recipe and again, I am gonna try it. I think there is like half a dozen of recipes that I am waiting to try.. Joanne Chang's famous stickybun It's already 9:11pm and I need to sleep early. Gonna wake up early tomorrow morning for my weekend run. See, after the Borneo International Marathon last May me and my friends signed up for the TMBT Ultra Marathon challenge but we signed up for the 25km. I don't think I'm ready to go beyond 25km yet hehehe. I hope this slight headache that I am having right now won't worsen by tomorrow morning or else I will probably have to cancel my run *fingerscrossed!* Feast your eyes on the stickybun.. I hope you won't be salivating on the picture haha!

The Baker in Me

Image
photo courtesy of Themodernapron.blogspot.com I am a REALLY big fan of cheesecakes and I found a really interesting recipe called "Salted Caramel Cheesecake" Don't you think it's just scrumptious? I do. That is why I am planning to try out the recipe.. as usual, I will let you all know how it turns out ONCE I've made it :) Below are some of the bakings in the past that I have done.. Carrot cake (before it was frosted with cream cheese) Supermoist double chocolate cake Chocolate fresh cream cake for Mother's Day Mini oreo cheesecakes The photos above are just some of the bakings that I've done. Sure I had my share of days where they didn't turn out they way I expected it to be and yes, I got dissapointed but that is when I get to think where did I go wrong so that the next time I won't do the same thing over again. I do sell my bakings but it is by order. See, baking is just for fun. However, if I could make some prof...

Cupcake Bake.

Image
There's alot of things that i have not done in so long! one of them is baking. Me and my colleagues love to eat and watch cooking shows i.e. masterchef, junior masterchef, DC cupcakes, Cupcake girls.. just to name a few. Two of us came of with the idea of baking cupcakes this weekend and try to perfect it like DC Cupcakes' cupcakes. I've got my ingredients ready :D Just waiting for the right time to bake hehehe. Is there such thing as a right time to bake? hmmm.. -.- Milk, cream cheese, margerine (i prefer using margerine everytime), my chopped walnuts, sugar & flour. Oh, just so you know i'm planning to bake carrot cupcakes since i love carrot cakes :) I'm so hoping the cupcakes will turn out fine and dandy. But most importantly, it is edible hahah! I don't know if i'll be able to join the zombi-fied sunday run organized by the AdiNation of runners KK on facebook. My left knee kinda hurts when i walk so i'll maybe use that time to bake instead of ru...

Sunday Baking.

Image
Last sunday MJK came over to have dinner with the family. Mom cooked vegetable, fish and soup. I didn't really felt good having him come over to eat my mom's cooking. So what I did was bake :) Since it was a last minute kind of thing, i made the simplest thing I know - APPLE PIE. I made 15 apple pies! distributed to my sister's family, kept 7 to ourselves and packed 4 for MJK to bring home later. You can't bake apple pie without apples. This is instant apple mix. I bought the one ready in a can hehe.. I main buyuk this time :P The pastry ready to go into the oven. The pies half cook. After 18 - 20 minutes in the oven.. . . . . . Tada!! But it doesn't look good as it taste because my filling was too much haha.. It exploded while it was cooking :D Next baking experiment will be Cheesecake!

Buko Pie

Image
As i have mentioned in my older posts, i am going to make buko pie.. and the day has arrived. i made one last week ;-D i know i still have a lot improvement to do on my baking skills, especially on this particular pie..i think i did ok with my 1st try. everyone seemed to love it hehe. the taste was there but the look, is still something i yet to achieve one day. i have improved on my crust making skills though :-D I plan to bake another buko pie, maybe sometime around next week. Let's just see how that will turn out hehe

Apple Pie

Image
Since i have ALL the time in the world, i decided to do some baking last friday. what did i baked? APPLE PIE! i had absolutely no trouble with the filling, but i did encountered some problem when it came to the crust. The verdict? well, because it WAS my 1st attempt.. the filling wasn't sweet enough and the crust was a bit thick and hard. Mom said maybe it was because i did more than enough kneading on it. Last night, after making dinner for the family i made another apple pie hehehe. I wasnt satisfy with the 1st one. This time around, for filling i used brown sugar instead of the normal white sugar. I still had problems with the crust :( thats why the crust doesnt look pretty hehehe. Guess i'll have to do more practice on it. After 2 attempts of apple pie making, i dont want to do another apple pie.. the next pie im going to do is BUKO PIE! (BUKO = COCONUT). Buko pie can be easily found anywhere in the philippines.. ang sarap! Here are the pictures of the 2 pies ive made.. Pie...

Apple Crumble: The Verdict

Image
So today was the apple crumble testing day.. the second i woke up the first thing on my mind was the apple crumble hahaha. I got out of bed and reheat it in the oven for 10 - 15 minutes. It was a bit too sweet but it was almost all gone under 2 hours :-P i had 3 servings in a row. After the 3rd serving, i was sugar high! hehe im so happy everyone enjoyed it. It only motivates me to bake some more! See? told ya i was motivated.. i made baked banana custard today but i think the bananas that i used were too ripe and it tasted a bit funny hehe.. I think thats the only update im going to be making for today. Stayed at home the whole day, so thats why i got no cerita-cerita .. Oh, my other bestie is in town. yeayyyy.. will be having dinner with her tomorrow night :-)

Pammie HEARTS Baking

Image
The picture above is me and my little niece, elsa.. i took this picture in my room while she was here friday night. She'll be two years old this august but she still cant talk that properly, i said to my sister that her daughter talks like a caveman.. hahaha. Babies.. Im waiting for my apple crumble to bake in the oven. I was out of my mind bored so i flipped through mom's recipe book and found Peach Crumble. But since we were out of peaches at home, i decided to use apples instead. This is how it looks like just before i pop it into the oven The result? TADAAA.. My brother said the apples looked like potatoes hahahah. Maybe it because of the way i diced it. Will tell ya'll about how it taste like tomorrow Im feeling much better now than last night after making a crucial decision on my life. Its a shame i wasted so much time on this particular person and closed down opportunities that came passing my way. I'd go "Oh well" everytime he lets me down, just hoping...

Pammie The Baker

Since i have some time off from doing my research, i have been baking. Yesterday i baked wholemeal donuts (yes, baked.. not fried. Its a bit healthier :-D) which turned out to taste like wholemeal bread haha. Actually, i wasnt planning on using wholemeal flour but while i was searching for my ingredients, i saw mom's wholemeal flour so i got this idea of instead of using the usual plain flour, why not use wholemeal flour? just to experiment. The final product was ok, i guess. The folks liked it hehe. Today, I made banana muffin. Thanks to Angel who shared me the recipe :-D After i printed out the recipe, i wasted no time. I went and gathered the ingredients and started on my muffins.. Before.. Tada.. I managed to make 9 muffins. There's 4 left hehe.. i ate 2, and dad ate 3. I think im going to make a dozen more this evening so that there will be enough for my family
