I just finish reading White Oleander this morning. I know its been a long time since i started reading the book. I got the book in August last year at Goodwill bookstore, Manila for a bargain price of 20pesos. Its not that im a slow reader, its just that the only time i read the book is at night when i go to bed. Sometimes i dont read at all.. i just dive into my bed and doze off. I find White Oleander to be somewhat dark and tragic. Sometimes too tragic i dont want to keep on reading. But somehow the curiousity of whats going to happen next to Astrid keeps coming back to haunt me. So i open up the book and start to read where i put off. I am now starting to read a novel by Elizabeth Berg entitled 'Open House' . I read a couple of pages during breakfast. Unlike White Oleander , this one's a love story. I recently have started going to sauna. I like the one at City Mall, Zazen Health Solution. Last saturday, me and the whole Liew clan went to Lagoon Park, Karambunai right after church. We had lunch there next to the beach and stayed there until sunset. I forgot to bring extra clothes, luckily a cousin of mine was generous enough to lend me hers. It was a great day.. lots of yummy food, great company, good weather & fun activities. It's just so sad to see how some people are constantly trying to keep up with you in every aspect of life. I know some people who are doing this. I mean, its not like im prohibiting them to better their lives..not at all. Its this thing, where they dont want you to be better than them...totally unacceptable to them. Its their little annoying ways of pretending to want to know whats up with your life like they're concern but in actual, they just want to know so that they can compete with you. Well compete all you want coz i the last time i check, i never signed up for any competition. I dont believe in living your life in a constant mode. I believe that we should constantly be advancing ourselves but not in the dispense of others. You dont need to prove that you're better at doing this and that than this person or that person and that go tell the world about it. Thats just bragging.

What you need: 300 gms groundnut, fried/roasted and grinded til fine 200 gms castor sugar 250 gms flour 250 ml of oil 1 teaspoon salt Mix the dry ingredients (sugar, salt, nuts & flour) in a big mixing bowl with finger tips until they are well mixed & crumbly. Add oil bit by bit & knead the mixture. Once you can roll up the mixture into a small ball without the surface crumbles, don't add anymore oil. Roll the dough into small balls & place them on a baking tray. use a circular tube like a cover of a ball pen/ marker pen & press gently on the top of the balls to make round indents. Glaze with egg before baking. To glaze, just beat one egg & brush on the cookie. Temperature: 200 deg. Ive recently watched the movie "Boys don't cry" which stars Hilary Swank. This is the movie which earned her an oscar for Best Actress in 99'. After watching the movie, it was surreal to think that this really had happened to someone in the past. Hilary Swank's performance in this movie was outstanding. She so deserves the golden globe and oscar that she won way back. When the movie ended, I came away from the movie realizing the courage you have to possess to be different, the dangers from it are real and we must admire those brave enough among us to be. This movie made me think about the sexual differences and what it means to have a sex change (or want one) or being trapped in a gender you dont want. I am currently listening to Leona Lewis' Spirit album. Ok, i admit i wasnt really interested in her music. Some friends have recommended me to check out her bleeding love song and ive heard it one time for like, 10 seconds then i stopped it and deleted it from my pc hehehe. I didnt like it.. at all! But just recently in this week i was fudging with the radio in my car and the same song was playing. I didnt recognize it at first because it was already playing half way. When the dj announced that it was Leona Lewis, i then went "OOhhhh." The album, out of 10..i would give it a 9. As some of you already know, my birthday fell on the 14th of January. A BIG thank you goes out to those who wished me a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, be it sms, comments on my friendster and facebook accounts, calls (near and far), emails and through ym. I didnt went out and celebrate like the previous years, instead i stayed home and had a quiet dinner with my family. Ok, so what did i cook? well, after much thinking of what to cook..i end up making spagetti with jumbo meatballs, and chicken salad. Dad came home with fried chicken and pizza. For desert, we had supermoist choc cake, which mom baked the day before. The pics..
